Liking the show so far. Some things to consider:
Are you guys using only one central mic? Some of the voices at times weren’t loud enough to hear.
Compounded by the soft voices is the intro theme. I have to turn the volune up on my phone enough to hear everyone and then the intro theme kicks in and is deafening.
Another thing is the super abrupt interruptions of the dialogue to insert a notice or end of the episode. Pleasr make the cut in the action clearer and while an excellent execution of the abrupt ending
Thanks for your feedback, Nero! We really appreciate it! We’re still experimenting with the best setup with the mics. We have 3 mics right now that are split between 5 people. I’m definitely still trying to figure out the best setup and getting all of the volumes to equal out. You’re right about the abrupt cuts between the show, notice, and ending. I’ll try experimenting with some other ways to make a cleaner break!
can be great, it is not used effectively in this case.
Oh and another thing: the dice hit on the table is as loud as the intro music, so when you guys roll, sometimes I have to remove my headphones (again because of the low voice volume, I have to turn my playback volume way up)
Thanks! I found better ways to even out all of the sound so this shouldn’t be the case moving forward!
What do you think of the audio lately, Nero? We implemented some changes to how we record a while ago and Rob is refining the postproduction process as we get access to some new tools.
Sorry took me this long to reply. As of Episode 14, I’ve been liking the quality much better. I think it’s gotten to the point that I can complain about the quality of the content instead of the quality of the production. The only nitpicky thing I might add is the ad/notice jingle could be shorter but it isn’t a big deal.
Btw, Alfread the Weird FTW.
PS. If it sounds like I’m insinuating a complaint about the quality of the content, I’m not. I’m just saying that you guys have gotten the basics down pat; other than minor stuff here and there, the content is the one driving the quality now.
Haha thanks so much Nero! We appreciate you sticking with it. We actually just invested in a new mic/mixer setup. So the quality will get even better when new episodes are released in a week or two!
