Thanks for the shout out! Atom and His Package is amazing and I think having that back patch is the fastest way to signal that I am not a punk with dumpster fire opinions about things.
At a show in DC a few months back some one who claimed to have gone to school with Adam took my picture to send to him. I hope that is true and that there isn’t a picture of me floating around in a creepy part of the internet.
Love the show! Can’t wait for part 2 next week
Do you have a list of animal rights organizations that you recommend? I know that you support FARM, but what are some others that you support? In a similar vain, do you have some that your would suggest staying away from?
What’s your take on animal welfare organizations? I know that many can be problematic because their goal is not animal rights, but rather better treatment of animals who continue to be exploited.
Similarly, what do you think about animal rescues and shelters? I recently started volunteering at a horse rescue that rehabilitates horses who were seized by animal control, which was something of a difficult decision for me because I really like being around horses and want to help animals, but I do condone horseback riding or similar exploitation of horses by humans. I think that is it a good thing that the organization is nursing horses back to physical health (which is something that I wanted to be a part of thus why I decided to volunteer there), but I have problems with the degree of emphasis that they place on training the horses to be ridden–like a horse has no worth if they’re not able to be trained for riding. I wish people would just see their worth as a living animal, without needing to make them serve some “purpose” for human use. On the plus side, the rescue does seem to really care about each of the horses there; it’s clear that they don’t mentally connect riding with exploitation, though.
I hope that this makes sense
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
The second Andy said Atom and His Package was going to be the outro, I skipped to the end and though I knew it wouldn’t be… I was disappointed it wasn’t “Punk Rock Academy”. That was my jaaaaaam.
